What Minnesota Advocates Need to Know About Abortion

For MNCASA Partner Program Members only

Please join MNCASA for an interactive webinar on “What Minnesota Advocates Need to Know About Abortion.” With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, conversations about reproductive justice, abortion care, and sexual violence are critical for advocates. Many victims/survivors of violence may have questions or concerns about abortion services in Minnesota and how to access them. While abortion access can be inconsistent across the state, abortion is a legal, safe option in Minnesota. Regardless of their personal values, advocates should be prepared to discuss abortion care with victims/survivors. This webinar is intended to equip advocates for those important conversations.

Through this webinar, advocates will be able to:

  • Analyze how abortion care, sexual violence, and reproductive justice are interrelated
  • Describe the basics of abortion care and access in Minnesota
  • Apply knowledge from webinar to advocacy with victims/survivors

Please note this webinar is interactive and will not be recorded. We will record a separate webinar on the same topic at a later time that will be available to advocates.

Trainer

Ashley Sturz-Griffith

Ashley has worked in the anti-sexual violence field in numerous contexts. Prior to joining MNCASA, she was a Legal Advocate at Alexandra House (Anoka County, Minn.), a Shelter Advocate at SAFEHouse (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Jefferson Children’s Advocacy Center (Gretna, La.).  Additionally, Ashley has taught master’s level courses in Social Work. As the Senior Advocacy Coordinator, Ashley strives to create space for the amazing anti-sexual violence advocates across MNCASA’s membership to learn, connect, and grow. By cultivating this space, anti-sexual violence advocates will have even more tools to provide quality services to victims/survivors. She strives for a culture shift where sexual violence is no longer acceptable, systems respond appropriately, and the most oppressed voices are lifted up in this movement.

Ashley loves spending time with her family (including two golden retrievers: Maple and Cherry), often has her nose in a book, cleans her house while binge-listening to podcasts, and goes on nature walks.
