SVJI Resource Highlight: Community Resource Mapping
By Fatima Jayoma
Hi everyone! The Rural Realities Blog is back. In today’s blog, we will be highlighting the new Community Resource Mapping Guide. For those unfamiliar with community resource mapping, it is an activity that can assist sexual assault response teams (SARTs) in identifying and organizing the available resources for victims/survivors of sexual violence. Community resource mapping can serve as a valuable tool for SARTs to understand the resources and support networks that are accessible to victims/survivors. Depending on a team’s intentions and goals, community resource mapping can occur during any stage of the systems change process.
The new resource provides teams with a comprehensive guide for the entire community resource mapping process. To begin, the guide will present a set of discussion questions designed to help teams gauge their interest and establish a clear direction for the mapping process. Following that, teams will proceed to plan for the mapping process by forming a workgroup and defining their goals and intentions. Once the planning phase is complete, teams will move on to identifying the specific types of resources they wish to explore. Finally, the resource will offer a detailed, step-by-step guide that will assist teams through the entire mapping process. If you have any questions about this new resource, please reach out to us at [email protected].
