Resource Spotlight: Just Detention
In thinking through this month’s theme of accountability, I want share about the really great work of the organization Just Detention International. Just Detention works to educate others and improve the conditions for victims who are incarcerated and in detention. They hold the belief that, “All survivors of sexual abuse—no matter where the abuse happens—deserve support and compassion.” They have an excellent set of resources available to, both, survivors and to agencies serving survivors in detention. They also have a library of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) resources.
If you and your team are working with survivors in detention or are trying to do better work with survivors in detention, connect with JDI. If you have other resources for doing better work with justice for incarcerated survivors, please leave them in the comments for your fellow teams!
