April Proclaimed Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Minnesota

Governor Tim Walz has proclaimed April 2023 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in Minnesota! Sexual Assault Awareness Month is focused on raising awareness about sexual violence in Minnesota, showing support for victims/survivors, and advocating for transformative culture change.

“Sexual Assault Awareness Month calls attention to the fact that sexual violence impacts every person in every community in Minnesota, and the many voices of victims and survivors of sexual violence must be supported and heard. Every victim’s and survivor’s response is unique, and every victim and survivor has the right to receive support and understanding from friends, families, and their communities; as well as equitable services from medical, legal, social services, and criminal justice systems…

Now, therefore, I, Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim the month of April 2023, as: Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the State of Minnesota, in honor of all the Minnesotans who have experienced sexual violence, and those who work to assure that victims and survivors have access to justice and essential services; and to make prevention of sexual violence a Minnesota priority.”
